Freediving in Dahab means warm, calm, clear water with real depth a few minutes from shore. This small town on Egypt's Red Sea coast is one of the best places in the world to learn and train: water around 22 to 28°C, visibility over 30 metres, almost no current, and dive sites you reach on foot. You can dive year-round, from a first session in the pool to deep training at the Blue Hole.
Dahab is a small town on the east coast of the Sinai Peninsula, on the Gulf of Aqaba. It sits at the edge of one of the clearest and calmest bodies of water on earth. For freedivers, that matters more than almost anything else.
The town is relaxed, small, and easy to navigate on foot. Most restaurants, dive shops and accommodation are along a single stretch of seafront. There are no big resort hotels, no package holiday crowds. The people who come to Dahab tend to stay longer than they planned.
Three things keep coming up when you ask freedivers why they come to Dahab. Not one of them alone. All three together.
The Lighthouse and Mashraba for everything up to 50 metres: calm, shore-entry sites a few minutes from town. This is where beginners train and where most courses and sessions happen. The entry is straightforward even on your first day.
The Blue Hole for deeper, advanced training above 50 metres. An iconic natural sinkhole with unusually clear water and easy shore access, one of the most famous freediving sites in the world. Worth seeing while you are in Dahab, though not needed for a great session.
Dahab is diveable year-round. Water temperature peaks at 28°C in summer and drops to around 22°C in winter. Air temperature stays warm even in December and January, rarely below 20°C during the day.
The most popular months for freedivers are October through April, when the heat is more manageable for surface intervals. Summer is quieter and the water is at its warmest. Both are good reasons to come.
The nearest airport is Sharm el-Sheikh (SSH), about 60 minutes by road. Cairo is also an option, a short flight or roughly 8 hours by bus. Transfers from Sharm el-Sheikh can be arranged through us when you book a course or training session.
Once you are in Dahab, everything is close. The center, the pool, the seafront, the restaurants, all within easy walking or a short drive.
Whatever your level, there is a way into the water here. Every course and session runs with a maximum of two divers per instructor.
